Living Well in an Unpredictable World
Navigating anxiety, grief, and uncertainty in turbulent times
How are you, really?
You go about your day: making coffee, answering emails, running errands.
But underneath it all, something is humming. A low-grade dread you can’t quite name.
You read the news and feel a spike of panic — then nothing. Just a flatness where the feeling used to be. You’re exhausted, but you can’t stop watching. Can’t look away, can’t fully engage.
From overwhelm to numbness.
You care deeply. About the planet, about people, about what kind of world we’re leaving behind.
And that caring costs you something.
You’ve started to dread being asked “How are you?” because you don’t know how to answer honestly without making things uncomfortable.
You feel guilty for sometimes not feeling anything at all.
You feel guilty for struggling when others have it so much worse.
You feel guilty for not doing more.
You’re holding a lot. And you’ve been holding it for a long time.
War, climate change, and political violence are not distant abstractions.
They shape how we feel in our bodies, our relationships, and our daily lives.
Do you need a grounded, compassionate space to understand why the world feels so hard right now and what we can actually do about it? This workshop is for you.
Drawing on trauma-informed and somatic approaches, we’ll examine the psychological impact of living through collective and ongoing crises. We’ll look at why our nervous system responds the way it does, how prolonged exposure to distressing events can erode our capacity to feel and function, and how grief shows up in unexpected ways.
Together We'll Explore
- Understanding your nervous system — the window of tolerance, stress responses, and what happens when we push beyond our limits
- The landscape of grief and anxiety — including anticipatory grief, pre-traumatic stress, psychic numbing, and collective trauma
- Burnout and compassion fatigue — why helpers, activists, and engaged citizens are especially vulnerable, and what that looks like in practice
- How to find relief — practical, body-based approaches to moving through difficult emotions rather than getting stuck in them
- Media and information hygiene — how to stay informed without becoming overwhelmed
- Processing and connection — ways to work through difficult feelings on your own, in conversation with others, and with children in your care
