Ask An Advocate developed out of the need to be able to easily find basic and clear information about income assistance and other income support programs, disability benefits (provincial and federal), and tenancy; as well as to empower people to self-advocate by providing videos, answers to frequently asked questions, Quick Reference Guides, training resources and links to other services.

Legal Aid BC
Free legal advice and representation available to BC residents who qualify for financial need, supporting criminal, mental health, prison, family, child protection, and immigration and refugee legal problems. Also has free resources to self-educate on a range of topics.

Family Law BC
Website, phone, and chat lines operated by the non-profit Justice Education Society of British Columbia (JES), providing information advice to BC residents about our justice system and specific legal issues.

Residential Tenancy Branch – BC Government
Free information on tenants’ and landlords’ legal rights and responsibilities, including resources on dispute resolution, and an informational phone line to speak with RTB staff for support with the tenancy process.
